Mountain village Donovaly is one of the highest located villages in Slovakia (988 m above sea level). It is situated in a valley between Velka Fatra and Starohorske vrchy. Donovaly was established in early 18-th century as an administrative centre of carban's settlements: Bully, Mistriky, Polianka, Hanesy, Misuty, Mociar a Sliacany. Nowadays is it a well-known sport and tourist centre. A main road, which leads through the village, is a part of the international route E77 and links the west and the east of Slovakia and Budapest with Krakow. The location in the middle of Slovakia allows to reach other areas of tourism - Velka Fatra, High and Low Tatras, Slovak paradise - in the short time.
During winter season can visitors of Donovaly use two skiing centres:

Zahradiste (1050 m above sea level) - with 4-chair lift, Snowboard Park, FUNPARK for children, night skiing and other ski lifts for beginners and advanced skiers, too.

Nova Hola (1370 m above sea level) - with 6-chair lift with 8-seat cabin, new downhill runs. There is a convenient place for experienced skiers and snowboarders. There is an adjoining ski lift for less advanced skiers, which provides night skiing, too.

All ski slapes are regularly carrying on and maintained snowed with the technical snow. Technical snow allows prolongation of winter season to the spring months. Cross country skiers can use 24 km of the ski tracks. In the centre there are several ski and snowboard schools and several ski rentals. Horse and dog sledges are ready for all the visitors in the whole winter season and there is a natural ice-ring for skaters.
A beautiful nature attracts visitors in summer, too. Donovaly is a point of departure and destination of many marked tourist and cycling trails. Paragliding from peak of Nová Hoľa is very interesting and is provided by paragliding school.
